When your most vulnerable share gets crickets

Hey Reader,

I almost didn’t hit publish.

The post was incredibly raw. Not polished, not packaged. Just a real-time window into the ache I was moving through – the fear of being seen, the voice in my head that still whispered, Who do you think you are?

It wasn’t strategic. It didn’t tie into a launch. It wasn’t teaching anything.

It was just… me. Naming my doubt. Naming my hope. Acknowledging the awkwardness of the messy middle.

But the gentle nudge within my heart, that gentle tug said: share it anyway.

So I did.

And then… nothing. Nada. Zilch.

No likes. No comments. Not even a pity emoji from my long-lost favorite co-worker.

Cue: the mental spiral.

Maybe I am too much. Maybe I should stick to tips and templates. Maybe this whole "authentic voice" thing is self-indulgent after all.

Because if I was being this honest and it still didn’t land… what did that mean?

I almost deleted it. I debated abandoning the whole account.

And I did... for a week.

The Messy → Magical Shift

But then, a full week later, a message landed in my inbox.

"Hey. Just wanted you to know I saw your post. I didn’t know what to say, but it stayed with me. I read it three times. It made me feel less alone. Thank you so much for sharing your story."

It wasn’t performative. It was personal. It was vulnerable.

That’s when it clicked (yet again)... le sigh.

Just because it didn’t perform doesn’t mean it didn’t land.

There’s a difference between resonance and response.

That post didn’t rack up dopamine hits, but it did what it was meant to do: it reached someone. Quietly. Deeply.

In a world measuring impact in clicks and views, the magic often lives in the unseen.

Your most meaningful work might never go viral. But it might be the exact sentence someone needed to read at 11:47pm, heart cracked open, searching for themselves in someone else's courage.

✨ 3 Reasons to Keep Showing Up (Even When No One Claps)

Here’s what I remind myself (and my clients) when the vulnerable posts flop:

  1. Lurkers are listeners. Most people won’t engage publicly, especially when the content is tender. That doesn’t mean they aren’t moved.
  2. Visibility is a long game. You’re not building a viral moment; you’re building trust. And trust doesn’t always show up in comments.
  3. Your voice is a tuning fork. Every time you speak from truth, you help your people recognize themselves—even if they don’t tell you right away.

A Spark of Inspiration:

"Your job is not to be understood. Your job is to be expressed. Understanding is the echo, not the aim." — Nayyirah Waheed

The silence isn’t failure. It’s a sacred pause.

Sometimes the post that gets no likes is the one that changes everything–for you or for someone else.

Your people might not clap yet, but they’re listening. Keep going.

Hey Reader, A few weeks ago, I sat at my desk, staring down a blinking cursor like it was a battlefield. I had plenty to say, supposedly–I mean... I had just spent the last three years creating and finally finishing my debut book. (Coming out September 30th, eek! More on that soon). But the point is, I help people write for a living! I AM now a writer! (Okay, sorry one more little eek. I have dreamed of saying that for quite some time...) But! In that moment, every idea I reached for...

Hey Reader, My client was mid-launch, doing all the “right” things–sharing vulnerably, showing up with heart, crafting content that felt magnetic and true. We'd mapped out the offer together with intention. The systems were working. Her energy? Mostly high. And still… nothing. No new sign-ups. No curious DMs.Not even an abandoned cart whisper on the sales page. My brain scrambled to problem-solve. Maybe the messaging needed a tweak? Maybe the price point was off? Maybe she should add a bonus,...

Hey Reader, You sit down to write a post, staring at the blinking cursor, and think, “If I have to make one more piece of content today, I might just… (insert expletive) not.” Marketing can feel like a full-time job on top of building your actual business. And the longer you procrastinate, the more guilty you feel about not showing up online. Anyone else? Ohhhh, just me, right. When new entrepreneurs come to me, to launch their first business I would say most everyone's biggest struggle?...
