Stop Posting & Praying: Try This Instead :)

Hey Reader,

I remember the early days of entrepreneurial life when I spent way too long on a single social media post.

You know: Overthinking the hook, changing the font six times in Canva, tweaking the caption four times, and yet I still felt weirdly vulnerable hitting publish.

It got 17 likes.

And worst of all?
It didn’t lead to a single inquiry, new follower, or email subscriber.

Cue the shame spiral: Is anyone even listening?
Cue the overcorrection: I ghosted my content for three weeks.

If you’ve ever felt like your marketing is a full-time job with zero ROI… you’re not alone.

Here’s what I know:

The problem wasn’t the algorithm.
The problem was my approach.

I was creating content like a perfectionist, not a professional.
I knew how to create content like a professional for someone else.

But posting for myself out of the gate felt like a herculean act. Hey, marketers need marketers too ha. I get it, as a new entrepreneur it's okay to feel this way as you find your rhythm and what resonates in your messaging.

Marketing isn’t just showing up—it’s showing up with purpose and a plan.

The Messy → Magical Shift

Once I stopped treating every post like a Hail Mary and started treating my content like a system…things felt far more aligned.

✨ 3 Ways to Show Up Consistently Sans Burning Out:

Let’s shift from frantic to focused. Here’s how:

1. Create Once, Repurpose Often
Turn one core idea into 5–7 pieces of content across platforms.

Newsletter → LinkedIn post → Instagram caption → Carousel → Story series → Email CTA

Your ideal clients need to hear the same message multiple times, actually 7-10 times to be precise, before they trust you and think about taking action. Repetition isn’t lazy—it’s smart marketing.

2. Batch Like a Boss
Stop creating content on the fly. Set aside 1–2 hours per week to plan, draft, and schedule content.

Think of it like meal prep for your business. You don’t cook every meal from scratch, you prep in advance so you’re not hungry and scrambling at 7 p.m.

3. Use a Core Content Pillar Strategy
Pick 3–4 themes you talk about on repeat—your brand pillars. Rotate between them so your audience knows what you’re about and your content stays consistent.

For example, here at Messy to Magical you might have noticed that I rotate weekly between:

  • Pillar 1: Self-Work / Mindset
  • Pillar 2: Offer / Business Strategy
  • Pillar 3: Brand / Messaging
  • Pillar 4: Marketing / Connection

And when inspiration strikes? Great—plug it in. But with clear content pillars, you don’t have to rely on lightning bolts of inspiration each week.

A Spark of Inspiration:

"Repurpose like a queen. Beyoncé doesn’t record a new song for every performance. Fans crave familiarity." — Me ;)

Consistency doesn’t come from willpower. Trust me, been there, got the t-shirt.
It comes from structure. The most magnetic brands don’t just show up more. They show up with clarity.

You don’t need 10 hours a week. You need a system that supports your nervous system.

💬 Your Turn. Where are you burning out trying to keep up with content?
Reply and tell me—I’d love to help you build a simpler strategy that fits your life and your voice.

To more clarity, confidence, and ease—one messy step at a time.

P.S. Like I mentioned, you don't need more content. You need a content strategy that works harder than you do. My brilliant friend Bobbi Mullins over at The Accidental Blogger has built her whole business around helping overwhelmed creatives and entrepreneurs stop the content hamster wheel and start repurposing like pros. If you’ve got content gathering dust, she’ll help you turn it into gold.

Hey Reader, When I first started building my personal brand 5 years ago, even with my 15 years of marketing and branding experience, I somehow developed marketing-best-practice-amnesia and decided the best approach would be to treat my content like a cosmic vending machine. Post a reel. Drop a LinkedIn thought. Send an email. Then wait. Refresh. Obsessively check who viewed it. (32 views. 3 likes. One was my mom.) But no discovery calls. No DMs. Just silence. I’d spent years crafting...

shadow of a woman entrepreneur

Hey Reader, A few months ago, I was working with a new entrepreneur who was so thrilled to finally have escaped the corporate world, but she kept stalling on writing her About page. We'd made progress everywhere else–defining her offers, setting sound pricing, even the homepage was pretty dang solid if I do say so myself. But every time she sat down to describe herself, she froze. "I just don’t know what to say. It feels fake," she told me. After a few coaching calls and a few tears, we...

Hey Reader, When a client of mine first heard me use the phrase “lead magnet,” she rolled her eyes, picturing a clunky PDF with a bland title like “10 Productivity Hacks for Boss Babes.” 🥴 She said she had previously downloaded a few, but they all sat unopened in her inbox like forgotten leftovers in the back of the fridge. So wouldn't you know it, when it came time to create her own lead magnet, she froze. What would she even offer?Would anyone care?Would it feel… scammy? She admitted she...
